Appointments with Cal.com
Look up available slots and book with the caller’s confirmation.
1. Prepare the calendar and event
Verify that your calendar is connected and working in Cal.com. Configure the event type, duration, availability and time zone. Confirm that the Cal.com booking page actually shows available slots.
2. Add both tools
In the agent, add Check availability · Cal.com and Book appointment · Cal.com under Functions and tools. Use the same numeric event type ID and IANA time zone such as Europe/Istanbul for both. The event type ID is not the name in your public booking link.
Describe when to use each tool, make sure it is enabled and save the agent settings first.
3. Save the key separately
Enter the Cal.com API key in each tool’s API key field and click Save key. Verify the saved-key message for both tools. Never put the key in instructions, URLs or knowledge content. Replace expired or revoked keys here.
4. Test the booking flow
Clarify the requested date and time zone and offer slots returned by the availability tool. Read back the name, email and selected time, obtain explicit confirmation, then book. Never report success if the tool fails.
Testing can create a real booking. Use your own test details, verify the result in Cal.com and the linked calendar, then remove the test booking in Cal.com.
Events requiring extra booking fields or email verification may need a custom API integration.
If availability or booking fails
Check the Cal.com booking page first. Review the calendar connection, availability, event ID, time zone and saved key on both tools. Check for a past date, taken slot or mistyped email. Share the call ID with support, never the API key.
